How to Measure and fit a Martingale collar:

To find the size most appropriate for your dog, I recommend taking these measurements using a soft tape measure:

1) Around the mid-part of the neck, just where you want the collar to lie. This is the most important measurement as all our collar sizing is based on this measurement

2) Around the widest part of the head, just in front of the ears. If the head measurement is larger than the mid neck please include it with your order as we will need to ensure the collar will slip over the dogs head.

Sizing for Martingale collars

XXSM :collar adjusts to fit mid-neck sizes 8"-10"

XSM: collar adjusts to fit mid neck measurement 10-14"

Small: collar adjusts to fit mid-neck sizes 12"-16"

Med : collar adjusts to fit mid-neck sizes 13"-17"

Large: collar adjusts to fit mid-neck sizes 14"-18"

XLG: collar adjusts to fit mid-neck sizes 18"-24"

Just a note about sizing: If you require larger or smaller collar than what I have listed, please include exact mid neck measurements with your order and we will do our best to custom size for a perfect fit.

Selecting an appropriate Martingale width for your hound:

The guideline I recommend when selecting collar width is :

Generally speaking 2" collars work well for most larger male or female greyhounds or most large breed dogs

The 1.5" widths are wonderful for the averaged sized  greyhounds (65-75lbs) some larger whippets and IG's. As well as almost all midsized to large breed dogs

The 1" collars are appropriate for the smaller female greyhounds, whippets and Italian greyhounds

Adjusting your Martingale Collar

To ensure your collar is properly adjusted, move the collar up to the narrowest part of the neck and pull upwards on the control loop (the part the D-ring is attached to). The two metal slides should come together but not touch. You should have at least a two finger distance between the two slides. This will ensure the collar will continue to tighten should the dog back up, preventing the collar from slipping off.

Sizing for Side Release Buckle Collars:

Small: 12-15"

Medium: 15-20"

Large: 18-24"

XLG: 20-26"

Please note: Sizing range for buckle collars is different than martingale sizing


How to measure and fit a Side Release Buckle collar:

Using a soft tape measure, encircle your dogs neck at mid point, just where you want the collar to lie, and allow for a few fingers to comfortably fit between the tape and your dogs neck. Remember that since the collars are adjustable you are better off going a size up rather than cutting it too close with the smaller size.
