Meticulous Care is put into every single Around the Hounds collar and we hope that you notice. Every element of collar construction, from the details of design and sewing to the fabrics and hardware we choose, has been time tested and re-tested to bring you what we feel is the most premium product on the market today.

WEBBING - To start with we use a strong but flexible poly web core. We consider our webbing to be the perfect weight for collars as is flexible enough to allow your hound to bend his head comfortably yet because it is also incredibly strong you can rest assured it will stand up to the demands of an active dog.

LINING - Next we completely line and wrap the webbing in satin, leaving no exposed webbing to rub or chafe sensitive necks. We are proud to say we are the innovators of this technique and it took us many years to perfect, but perfect we did and this we hope you notice.

TRIM - On top of the satin wrapped core we sew on the decorative trim or fabric. All of our fabrics are hand cut and turned to double thickness to create the trim. This time consuming process is another Around the Hounds feature that separates us from the rest. We strive to line up patterns and center designs to create the most visually stunning collar every time. Even though we end up with alot of fabric waste by using this approach, we feel it is incredibly important to the overall look and quality of the collar.

HARDWARE - Whether it is the rich solid brass or the sleek and shiny nickel plated welded steel you prefer, you will be getting the most premium hardware we can find. We have never scrimped on quality of any detail of an Around the Hounds collar, but especially not here. Our slides are the more expensive, beefy style that I feel are also more esthetically pleasing when compared to the cheaper, thinner slides I have seen. Our D- ring/’s are in perfect scale to our collars, not too heavy and clunky but not to light and flimsy looking. We have searched relentlessly for the perfect hardware to finish off our collar designs and I believe we have found it.

STITCHING – We use an incredibly strong upholstery weight nylon thread and quadruple stitch all wear points. Our thread is clear in color so it disappears into the background of the collar, another detail that makes our finished product that much more stunning, with no thread lines to distract from the design. We are also meticulous about finishing the inside of the collars so that no thread rubs are left. We check and double check to make sure all stitch back tack points are flush and smooth. We also guarantee our stitching and, as unlikely as it is, should any stitching come loose please mail the collar back to us and we will repair right away.

COLLAR CARE – Almost all collars and leashes can be safely machine washed but because of the varied fabrics we use it is impossible to give recommendations for each collar. A few of the more delicate collars may have to be spot cleaned with a fabric cleaner found at most shoe stores. Please use your discretion or e-mail us for our suggestions. I machine washed all my own dog/’s collars (including the silks) and leashes, time and time again and am always pleased as to how beautifully they turn out.

TO MACHINE WASH - I recommend first removing all tags, and placing in a laundry bag or pillow slip with the ends knotted. Machine wash on the delicate cycle, mild detergent, mild temps, and simply place on a towel and let air dry…Voila!
