Around the Hounds Spring 2011...
Vintage Chic.
I followed my heart on this collection as well as my personal design style of the moment, think Paris Flea market, or cottage chic. I am always inspired by all things old and worn, especially if the have a French flair or style.
In the early 1800's old natural fiber feed sacks became popular with thrifty Farmers wives
great utilitarian fabric to be used for dish cloths, diapers,
nightgowns and other household items including pillow covers.
In recent years I have noticed a resurgence burlap or feedsack fabric trend in home decor items, in particular pillow covers...While burlap doesn't seem like a great choice for pillows (how do you say, scratchy. lol) when mixed with silk or linen or hemp it is just to die for giving the great look of burlap without the scratch!
Faded hand stamped (imperfect) vintage icons, crowns, monograms, Eiffel towers and what really drew me was the vintage dog images...I just couldn't put this idea down, so with allot of research and fabric finding missions, practice using different stamping techniques, searching for antique dog images...Here is our first release of the collection
"I believe in Angels" I found the winged vintage greyhound image and it spoke to my heart, I then layered elegant script behind it to create the graphic in which a template was made..In turn the template was then hand-stamped onto the fabric by the wonderfully talented Jillian Eve of
Les Studio Elephant I just love the elegant romantic feel of this collar!
We chose three gorgeous new fabrics, subtly iridescent mist dupioni silk, tone on tone ivory damask and a stunning tea stained 100% linen to create our first Vintage Chic release, "I believe in Angels"
